Carimissions

The Origin Of Carimissions

The mandate for Mission 6:10 is from

Gal 6:10 “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Hurricane Ivan was the catalyst that launched Carimissions Incorporated International. The first trip was September 15-18th, 2004 to Grenada. The team included Bishop Ayotunde Akindele, Emile Telemaque, Jenny Boodram and Mijanou Charles. Armed with food supplies to a ravished nation, the team was able to link with influential community leaders to impact three impoverished communities: Windsor Forest, Belle Isle and Apres Tout. The team was also instrumental in purchasing tarpaulins for homes whose roofs were blown-off.

With a burden for the children of Grenada, Carimissions began its Christmas initiative in December 2005. It involved the distribution of toys and clothing children to several communities across island. This was an avenue to present the gospel to families during a season when the world declared the love of Christ. This initial venture confirmed God’s plan to reach the families through the hearts of the children. It also left an indelible mark on parents whose response included, “now I can use the little money I have to buy food.”

There were parents who asked for a toy for themselves stating that “I never received a toy for Christmas.” Over the years, this Christmas venture has touched several communities from the north to the south of Grenada.
In August 2007, Carimissions launched its first Daily Vacation Bible School (VBS) in the northern community of Sauteurs. Children from neighboring communities such as Roses Hill and Plains came to hear the gospel resulted in many accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal savior. Apart from the distribution of much needed school supplies to each child, we were able to have pipe-borne water installed in the home of a family of six in the Rose Hill. In 2012, the Carimissions’ VBS extended to St. Vincent.
Over one hundred children attended that inaugural outreach from neighboring communities, and each child received essential school supplies.

The Vacation Bible School program is still very vibrant today in Grenada, with over 200 children attending annually. With each trip, we continue to share the love of Jesus Christ and distribute school supplies and clothing. Some of the communities influence include: Windsor Forrest, Tempe, Apres Tout, Plains, River Road, Morne Fendue and Brizan.

Evangelism has always been at the heart of Carimissions. After several years of laying the foundation of the love of Christ through the children, in July 2015, the team embarked on an intensive community evangelism initiative in the communities of Belle Isle and Windsor Forest resulting in over ninety (90) adults accepting Jesus Christ.

Over the years, we have seen significant impact of the gospel on the lives of the children in these communities. Children demonstrate changes in their conduct and attitude as they mature, and some have become very active in their local churches.

Similar changes have been observed in the parents, who initially left their children at VBS, but more and more they became very involved in the daily activities. It is true as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:6 “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase”. God has truly been increasing his word in the communities we have touched.

Carimissions is the mission arm of Kingsway Ministries Incorporated International apart from all written above, also engaged in the preliminary work of planting new churches.
